When Adam Villard, CEO of Mini Mall Storage Properties, first reviewed the self-storage landscape in the Canadian Prairies, he immediately saw the potential.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues, many individuals and small businesses are facing financial hardship – including some of the people who make their home with Avenue Living. However, a number of different government programs are helping Canadians through these unprecedented times.

Despite the economic challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, April was a very good month for Avenue Living Communities when it comes to key performance indicators, and May is trending in the same direction.

Mental Health Week in Canada is May 4 – 10, an annual event that raises awareness of the issue in the country. As an organization with frontline employees, Avenue Living is focused on delivering services to its team to help with their mental health.

“This isn’t the first economic challenge that we’ve been through,” said Shannon. “Avenue Living has continued to grow, operate and be successful through eight years of recessionary periods – out of fourteen that we’ve been operating. We’ve been successful in challenging times.”

A new, 5,400-square-foot home care centre opens at Wetaskiwin Mall near Edmonton, Alberta, owned and operated by Avenue Living, part of an initiative to seek more varied tenants. The publicly funded personal and healthcare services centre is a home base for nurses to deploy from, and also offers a medical clinic.
