Farmland

Since the launch of the Avenue Living Agricultural Land Trust (ALAL) in 2016, the case for investing in farmland has become even more clear. From inception, ALAL has grown to manage assets across Saskatchewan, which is home to more than 40% of Canada’s cultivated farmland. To replicate our success in the agricultural space, we launched Tract Farmland Partners LP (Tract) in late 2022, which has grown to $32.9 million in assets under management. The tenant farmers of both funds produce a range of row crops, including grains, legumes, and canola — basic staples that meet global demand.

Investment Strategy

Initiated in 2016 and 2022 respectively, ALAL and Tract provide investors with the opportunity to participate passively and indirectly in the consolidation of farmland in Saskatchewan.

Tract seeks to generate returns for investors via the capital appreciation and leasing of its portfolio of land holdings, as well as through value-add capital improvements and the strategic use of leverage.

2024 has been a pivotal year for us in terms of laying the groundwork for future growth. With Saskatchewan farmland continuing to demonstrate strong underlying fundamentals and interest rates trending towards a more accommodative outlook, the stage is set for prudent acquisitions in 2025. Our strategic focus on consolidating and expanding our portfolio of farmland assets underscores our commitment to operational excellence and fostering long-term value for our investors and the agricultural communities we support.
